Top Quality

Replaced a low budget high-mass bridge on a bass I assembled from parts.
First: Love not having to thread the strings through the bridge. This will make changing strings much easier. Plus if I feel like putting flat wounds on, I can take them off and put them aside for the future without having to straighten the coils around the tuning pegs or cut them.
Second: The quality is outstanding. Chrome plated to perfection and supplied with high quality mounting screws.
Can’t really hear a difference in how it affects the sound; I’m not convinced the bridge contributes audibly, but it was easy to install and intonate. I had to drill pilot holes to mount it as it didn’t lineup with the existing holes from two previous bridges. It’s a parts bass after all; so that didn’t concern me.
One of the best bridges I’ve used at a reasonable price point. Satisfied with its performance/ ease of use and very impressed by its design and aesthetics.

Very nice, eventually

The good:
– it’s fairly lightweight, while still being solid.
– love the quick change option
– doesn’t call attention to itself
– no woodworking involved
The bad:
– you have to take most/all of the saddles apart to get the mounting screws into a standard Fender five screw mounting system.
– the intonation screws are too long for a standard Fender retrofit.
For that last point, I’ll provide a solution. The intonation screws are 3mm diameter. All of the screws (there are two different lengths included, two for D & G, two for E & A) are about 5mm longer than they should be. You hit the limits before you truly have the bass intonated. I was able to get good replacements at my local hardware store. I’d have to measure to confirm lengths, but just measure and subtract 5mm, I think I’m more comfortable making you measure than depending on my memory, but 2x 20mm and 2x 25mm is what I recall. Take apart a saddle and bring it with you to the hardware store.
I’m happy with the bridge. It looks elegant, it’s quite solid (like a high mass bridge without the bulk) and I love being able to pop the strings in and out of the top rather than threading them through a hole. It’s not a feature unique to this bridge, but it helps make it worth keeping.
Added: I waited for it to come back in stock and bought a second for a different bass. It really, really is a nice bridge once you work out the quirks, to the point where I waited until I could buy a second.
