Really impressed…
While I don’t see how it’s possible to get excited about how a simple little preamp tube sounds and performs, I’m honestly impressed with this one. I have a replica of an old Fender tweed Deluxe amp and was having a tough time with the tubes it came with. It’s only got two preamp tubes, so I replaced both with these Tung-Sols (yes, including V1, which is supposed to be a 12AY7). The Deluxe breaks up really easily and early, and these tubes seem to give a really nice balance of grit and crunch, without sounding buzzy or strident. Granted, a tube doesn’t give an amp its sound per se, but these don’t subtract from anything nice that’s at a circuit-level.
I kind of got these just as a cheap experiment, but now, I think I’ll be retubing with the Tung-Sols when the time comes.

Great tube for guitar amps
I got this tube for the V2 position in a Rivera combo amp and I am happy with how it both improved the clarity of my clean tone and the creaminess of the distortion channel. I thought my amp sounded a little muddy before but this tube in the V2 position really helped. I would use this tube in any slot in my guitar amp.
